The Sudan Hornets move to 2-1 in district play after down the Springlake-Earth Wolverines on the road, 42-22.
The Hornets move to 3-5 overall.
Sudan senior, Austin Conley opened the game with a 26-yard rushing touchdown with 8:03 to play in the first quarter. The PAT by Chris Schovajsa was good, making the score, 7-0.
Conley added a four-yard touchdown run with 4:21 to play in the quarter and the PAT by Schovajsa was good, making the score, 14-0, going into quarter number two.
The Wolverines responded as senior quarterback, Isaiah Solis rushed for a five-yard touchdown with 11:45 to play in the first half. The two-point conversion pass from Solis to Rolando Arenas was good, trimming the lead to, 14-8.
Sophomore quarterback, Christian Montes, completed a pass to Conley for a 16-yard touchdown, stretching their lead to, 20-14, with 9:26 to play in the first half.
With 3:32 remaining in the half, Solis completed a nine-yard touchdown pass to Arenas, trimming the lead to, 20-14.
Sudan though would respond as Conley scored back-to-back rushing touchdown from 34 and 32-yards out, stretching the Hornets’ lead to, 35-14, heading into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth quarter, Conley scored on an 11-yard rushing touchdown with 6:08 to play in the game. James Sandoval scored on a late touchdown run from six-yards out, and the two-point conversion run by Solis was good, as the Wolverines fell short at home, 42-22.
Sudan totaled 406 yards of offense, including 25 passing yards and 381 rushing yards.
Montes finished the game two-of-three passing for 26 yards and one touchdown and added 10 carries for 60 yards.
Austin Conley led the rushing attack with 18 carries for 252 yards and four touchdowns, while Chris Schovajsa chipped in seven carries for 50 yards and one touchdown Isaac Mendez added three carries for 18 yards.
Austin Conley also had one catch for 15 yards and one touchdown, while Schovajsa finished with one catch for 10 yards.
Defensively, Austin Conley led the team in tackles with four, including three for loss, while Ruben Rodriguez tallied three tackles and Alex Conley added two tackles.
The Hornets will host Bovina on Friday to close out the regular season.
