Beta Sigma Phi learns about Art Association’s new scholarship program

Zeta Rho chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held their monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 14th, at the home of Lynn Box.
After a meal of spaghetti, green salad, and garlic bread along with chocolate pie and pumpkin cheesecake for dessert served by Lynn Box and co-hostess Sandi Chitwood, Martha Hunnicutt, president of the Muleshoe Art Association, gave the program on the art club’s new scholarship program, how to become a Friend of the Muleshoe Art Association, and the group’s new non-profait status that makes donations to the scholarship fund tax-deductible.
The business meeting included roll call and discussion of the success of the Fall Festival in lieu of minutes. Communications were shared; November birthdays were recognized for members Rickie Warren and Sheila Stevenson; the treasurer’s report was given. Treasurer Pat Young also reported on the sorority’s service project this year, a $500 check donated to the Snack Pak 4 Kids program which is a non-profit organization that provides healthy snacks for kids to ensure good nutrition over the weekends so they can arrive at school on Mondays ready to learn. The check was presented to Terry Marricle who is in charge of the program here in Muleshoe.
Discussion followed concerning future meetings, the December Christmas meal and party, programs, and the status of members who have moved away from Muleshoe. The group voted to become a Friend of the Muleshoe Art Association in order to support the scholarship program.
Sandi Chitwood announced the arrival of her new great-granddaughter, and Donna Glover announced she would be welcoming a new great-grandchild in May. Cindy Purdy won the door prize, a decorated pumpkin.
