The Sudan Hornets’ varsity football team’s season came to an end at Lobo Stadium in Levelland on Friday night as they fell to the Seagraves Eagles, 44-6, in the bi-district round of the play-offs.
Seagraves struck first in the first quarter with a seven-yard rushing touchdown, taking a, 7-0 lead into the second quarter.
They found the end zone again to begin the second quarter, this time on a four-yard rush. Sudan would strike back as senior, Austin Conley, punched it in from the one-yard line. The two-point conversion try was no good for Sudan, leaving them down, 14-6.
The Eagles would add a 23-yard rushing touchdown and a 22-yard field goal before halftime, taking a, 24-6 lead into the locker room at the break.
Eagles’ quarterback, Davin Rodriguez, connected with Joseph Guerrero for a 27-yard touchdown for the only score of the third quarter, as Seagraves led the Hornets, 31-6.
In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would score on runs of one yard and 25-yards to close out the contest, 44-6.
Sophomore quarterback, Christian Montes, finished the game two-of-10 passing for 52 yards and added 20 carries for 84 yards.
Conley finished with 17 carries for 42 yards and one touchdown.
Chris Schovajsa had one catch for 42 yards, while Ruben Rodriguez finished with one catch for 10 yards.
Defensively, Conley led the team in tackles with 11, including one for loss, while Schovajsa notched four tackles and Alex Conley finished with three tackles.
The Hornets end the season with a record of 3-7 overall, 2-2 in district play.
