On November 7, 2017, Muleshoe Lions Club had a special meeting held at the Muleshoe Country Club. We had several special guests which included Rowena Meyers and her daughter, Merrill, and the Travis Copley family.

Scott Miller opened our meeting with prayer given by Todd Shipman and the Pledge of Allegiance. Jimmie Kay Moore introduced Rowena and spoke about how Jinks Meyers had passed on his child glasses ministry to the Lions. With his help Muleshoe Lions Club was able to assist over 500 students with eye glass testing in the Muleshoe ISD schools this year. Rowena was presented a certificate of appreciation in honor of Mr. Meyers. She spoke of how he first started his ministry and how thankful she was to continue to be his assistant even after he had been promoted to heaven. Scott Miller introduced Travis and Christi Copley. Over the summer Muleshoe Lions Club sponsored their son Gatlin to go to Lions Camp, which was specifically for children with diabetes. Travis, Christi and Gatlin all spoke about their experience with the Lions Camp.

Gatlin had a fantastic time at camp! His favorite part was the rock climbing and the archery! Brenna then spoke of the peace poster contest. Students from Watson Junior High were to create their vision on “The Future of Peace”. We had 84 entries! Out of the 84, 10 were selected to be voted on for 1st,2nd, and 3rd place. The 1st place student will have their art sent to the District to be judged along with other students from other Lions Clubs. Scott concluded the meeting and everyone enjoyed visiting. If interested in joining the Muleshoe Lions Club and being part of a great organization please contact Scott Miller at 806-946-7299 or Jimmy Kay Moore at 806-778-8353.
