Fillies beat Lady Mules 57-38

The Lady Mules were competitive with the Shallowater Fillies through the first quarter and a half. Shallowater took over the game after that and downed the Lady Mules 57-38.

The Lady Mules got off to a slow start in the first half at Roosevelt, and the Lady Eagles took advantage to defeat the Lady Mules 51-32.
Keely Dunham scored with a turn around jumper from the blocks to open the game against Shallowater. Brianna Barron and Anahi Barrera added a basket each and Alyssa Wheeler dropped in a pair from the charity line. The Lady Mules trailed Shallowater 11-8 after one period.
Dunham opened the second quarter as she had the first and tied the game at 11-11 with a free throw. Brooke Garza made her first field goal of the game. Barron and A. Barrera made a free throw apiece. Shallowater had poured in the points to lead the Lady Mules 28-15 at the half.
Dunham opened the second half with a hoop from the blocks. Wheeler and Garza each dropped in a basket. Barron, A. Barrera, and Wheeler made a free throw each. The Lady Mules had fallen behind 48-24 after three quarters.
Cassidy Cage hit a 15-foot jumper from the left wing to open the final frame. She later added a pair of free throws. Lilly Barrera hit from just inside the arc and dropped in a pair of charity tosses. Garza fought through a foul for a hoop. Dunham finished with two buckets in the final period.
Dunham led the Lady Mules with 11 points. Garza added six points, and Wheeler dropped in five points. Cage, L. Barrera, Barron, and A. Barrera made four points each.
The Lady Mules trailed the Roosevelt Lady Eagles 32-11 at the half.
Garza started the third frame with a pair of charity tosses. To that, she added two baskets and one more free throw. Dunham scored two hoops and free throw. The Lady Mules trailed Roosevelt 41-23 with one quarter left to play.
L. Barrera made a pair of free throws to open the final frame, and she hit a 17-foot jumper from the left wing. Garza chipped in a free throw, and Dunham made a pair of hoops.
Dunham finished the Roosevelt game with 13 points. L. Barrera dropped in nine points, and Garza finished with eight points. Kyndal Miller chipped in two points.
The Lady Mules traveled to Littlefield to start their second round of district against the Lady Cats. The Idalou Lady Cats will visit the Lady Mules Friday, January 19.
