Sudan Powerlifting competed in first meet

The Sudan Powerlifting team competed in their first meet of the year at Abernathy this past Saturday.

“The first meet of the year always has a few hiccups but I thought our guys handled them well and competed in a manner that we can all be proud of,” Head Coach Erik Edwards.
Isaiah Montes took first place out of seven lifters in the 275 lb class lifting a total of 1,205 lbs.
Adrian Sital placed seventh out of 11 lifters in the 220 lb class lifting a total of 795 lbs and Tyler Moeller placed seventh out of eight lifters in the 242 lb class with a lifting total of 705 lbs.
Abel Tinajero placed 11th out of 24 lifters in the 165 lb class with a lifting total of 765 lbs, while Alex Conley placed 12th out of 18 lifters in the 181 lb class with a lifting total of 825 lbs.
Callan Cannon placed 13th out of 17 lifter in the 148 lb class with a lifting total of 750 lbs and Beto Diaz placed 16th out of 24 lifters in the 165 lb class with a lifting total of 695 lbs.
BJ Davila finished 12th out of 13 lifters in the 198 lb class with a lifting total of 770 lbs, while Triston Fred finished 14th out of 18 lifters in the 181 lb weight class with a lifting total of 765 lbs.
Jesus Huerta finished 15th out of 18 lifters in the181 lb class with a lifting total of 660 lbs and Damon Boyd finished 18th in the 181 lb class with a lifting total of 620 lbs.
“We as coaches are very proud of how these guys competed and are very optimistic as we look to the remainder of this season,” the coach said. “Each lifter had a good meet but as the same time, has room to improve.”
They will be competing on Saturday at Dimmitt.
