The Muleshoe Art Association traveled to Lubbock Tuesday, January 2, to enjoy a meal at The Plaza Mexican Food Restaurant and a visit to the studio of former Muleshoe Art Association member Jan Lloyd.
Members were joined by Jan and friends from Lubbock at the restaurant, and after the meal all traveled to Jan’s home and studio for a tour of the studio and to view an instructional video made by Jan demonstrating techniques used when painting with watercolor. Dessert was served and discussions of the techniques were shared among the group. A drawing was held for three door prizes, artwork of Jan’s, of a framed print of a cat and two unframed prints won by Judy Gambill, Martha Hunnicutt, and guest Mike Jones.
Jan Lloyd is a retired professor of art and digital painting at Clovis Community College and also served as division chair for the Fine Arts/Communication Department while there. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Texas Tech University, a Masters from WTAMU, and her doctorate from New Mexico State University.
No business meeting was conducted so that members could just enjoy the activities of the day.
