The eighth-grade Lady Mules pressed the Dimmitt Bobbies into submission Monday evening. The Lady Mules outscored the Bobbies 50-13.
Page Parker set the tone for the Lady Mules with a short jumper 20 seconds into the contest. She picked off a Bobbie pass and drove for a layup. She added two more baskets before the first quarter ended. Alina Elizarraraz hit twice from near the baseline.
Genesis Vasquez put back an offensive rebound. Natalie Ambriz made back-to-back steals and drove for layups. She also chipped in a free throw. The Lady Mules led Dimmitt 19-1 after one quarter.
Elizarraraz opened the second period with a basket. Later she took a pass from Ambriz to complete a fast break. Parker took an assist from Ambriz for a hoop. Parker also put back an offensive rebound. Ambriz also made a feed to Kylee Villa for a short jumper. Makayla Toscano scored from near the blocks. The Lady Mules led 31-5 at the half.
Ambriz scored on an inbound play to open the third quarter. Parker sank a 3-pointer from the top of the key and finished the quarter with a buzzer beater. The Lady Mules led 40-12 with one period left to play.
Ambriz picked off a pass and drove for a layup 50 seconds into the final frame. Parker picked a Bobbie’s pocket and drove to the basket. Parker finished the game with back-to-back 3-pointers.
Parker led the Lady Mules with 25 points. Ambriz finished with nine points, and Elizarraraz dropped in eight points. Villa added four points. Vasquez and Toscano chipped in two points each.
The Lady Mules traveled to Slaton to play the Tigerettes Monday but return home February 5 to finish the season against the Friona Maidens.
