The Muleshoe Art Association held their monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 8th in the meeting room of the Muleshoe Public Library.
President Martha Hunnicutt called the business meeting to order which included roll call, minutes, treasurer’s report, after which other business was discussed.
Upcoming workshops were announced. Jon Birdsong watercolor workshops will be held at each Thursday in February and again for the month of March from 9:30 to 12:30 in the morning. The first of these workshops will be held in the Muleshoe Public Library with the rest of the classes meeting at the City of Muleshoe Training Center. Wes Underwood’s photography classes will be March 30-31 also at the Muleshoe Training Center. Both of these workshops are open to the public as well as art association members.
Sandra Chancey announced the association’s spring show dates which will be April 9-13 in the meeting room of AimBank. Entries will be taken on the 9th, judged on the 10th, and exhibited through 13th. The judge will be Mike LeFleur of Amarillo.
Melba Bratcher gave the library display report. Ann Johnson is now exhibiting. Judy Gambill of Clovis, New Mexico, will exhibit in March and April.
Kay Hohes reported on the March program which will be Plein Air Painting with Margaret Hodgson of Lubbock. Weather permitting, this meeting will be held at the Muleshoe Heritage Center and will be on March 13th instead of the usual first Tuesday of the month to allow some members to attend an acrylic painting workshop at Texas Tech on that date.
President Hunnicutt reported that the art scholarship application is now online, and the deadline for students to apply is April 2nd.
Ann Johnson gave the program-a lesson on making bows. Everyone made a bow! Ann also shared two readings comparing the lives of butterflies to our lives.
New member Mike Jones won the door prize brought by Kay Hohes.
The meeting was adjourned and the twelve members present enjoyed refreshments of cookies, cupcakes, and fruit provided by Ann Johnson and Kay Hohes. Everyone then worked on valentines for the residents of Park View Nursing Home.
