The Sudan powerlifting team competed in their third meet of the season at the Levelland Invitational on Saturday.
“We had a very good day and every lifter topped their total from this season,” Coach Austin Zundt said. “This is extremely impressive considering how long the meet was, more than 12 hours if you’re wondering. These kids have been working extremely hard and it is really starting to pay off.”
He added, “We are excited to see the kids push themselves beyond their limits.”
The results from the meet are as follows:
Isaiah Montes finished 10th out of 27 lifters in the 275 lb weight class with a lift total of 1,220 lbs.
In the 181 lb weight class, Alex Conley finished 14th out of 21 lifters with a lift total of 930 lbs, while Triston Fred finished 16th out of 21 lifters with a lift total of 850 lbs. Jesus Huerta finished 18th out of 21 lifters with a lift total of 810 lbs and Damon Boyd finished 19th out of 21 lifters with a lift total of 755 lbs.
Abel Tinajero finished 18th out of 31 lifters in the165 lb weight class with a lift total of 830 lbs, while Callen Cannon finished 25th out of 38 lifters in the 148 lb Weight Class
with a lift total of 810 lbs.
Carolina Regalado finished 19th out of 29 lifters in the 132 lb weight class with a lift total of 500 lbs and B.J. Davila finished 22nd out of 30 lifters in the 198 lb weight class with a lift total of 870 lbs.
Sudan will be attending their last meet of the year on Saturday at Seagraves.
We will be attending our last meet of the year this coming Saturday.
“If our athletes finish in the top 12 in their weight class of our region, they will qualify for Regionals,” Coach Zundt said.
Regionals will be held March 10th at Sundown High School.
