DeShazo students participated in the GEAR Robotics Trial Run at Texas Tech University on Saturday. Students have spent the past several weeks designing, constructing, and programming robots using LEGO robotics kits.
The students design the programming around a fictitious story, such as performing surgery or a moon post, with a need for an autonomous robot to perform a variety of tasks. They then compete in tournament play with two-minute matches on an 8-by-4 foot game table.
The students did a phenomenal job, and represented Muleshoe well. They worked cooperatively, and used the experience to further prepare for the GEAR tournament to be held in April.
Coached by Melissa York and Sarah McCaslin, the groups are listed below:
Group 1: Jordan Reyes, Donavan Moreno, Hayden Burrus, Brayton Butler
Group 2: Abi Jones, Mia Pantoja, Kenadee Ramage, Jorryn Watts
Group 3: Aidan Mendoza, Riley Clifton, Ethan Whitworth, Jesus Salas
