The Mule golf team opened district play Monday, March 26 on the Plainview Country Club Course. The Mules are tied for third place and currently only five strokes out of second place.

Wyatt Parker led the Mules with a first round total of 92 strokes. Parker finished in a tie for second in the medalist race. Izaiah Perez carded an initial round 109 for an eleventh place finish as a medalist.

The Mules finished with a team total of 433 strokes on the day.

Shallowater leads the district with a team score of 372 strokes. Idalou currently holds second with a team total of 428 strokes. Muleshoe and Slaton are knotted in third place with 433 strokes.

Friona holds fifth place with 484 strokes, Dimmitt is in sixth place with 498 strokes, and Dimmitt holds seventh place with 557 strokes.

Braden Shipman finished with 112 strokes, Brendon Rodriguez had 113 strokes, and Luke Leal finished with 116 strokes to round out the Mule team score. Ricky Diaz shot 126 on the 18-hole course, and Ryan Rodriguez fired a tournament total of 122 strokes.

The Mules will attempt to move up in the standings in the final round of district play to be held at Lubbock on the Meadowbrook Golf Course April 2.
