Eighth-grade Lady Mules compete in district meet

The eighth-grade Lady Mules racked up 247 points in the District 2-3A Track Meet April 5. Other team totals were not available.

Kylee Villa got the Lady Mules rolling by winning the first race of the day. She ran a gold medal time of nine minutes and 31.85 seconds in the 2400-meter run. Alina Elizarraraz won the bronze medal with a 10:46.57 and Araceli Hernandez placed fourth with a 10:56.84.

Natalie Ambriz won the gold medal in the high jump by clearing four feet ten inches. Paige Parker earned the bronze medal in the same event with a leap of 4-02.00 and Elizarraraz placed fourth with a height of 4-00.00.

Maddison Zapata won the pole vault. Ambriz earned the gold medal in the long jump with a leap of 19-07.50. Kayla Soto placed fourth in the same event with a leap of 13-08.00, and Ava Miller finished sixth with a distance of 13-01.00.

Soto earned the silver medal in the triple jump with a distance of 29-10.50 and Genesis Vasquez placed fourth with a distance of 29-00.00.

Makayla Toscano won the bronze medal in the shot put with a throw of 31-00.75, and Paige Garner placed fifth with a toss of 26-09.25. Yurtizi Rodriguez finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 56-01.

The 4×100-meter relay team of Valeria Cruz, Ambriz, Parker, and Miller won the gold medal with a time of 53.49. Villa won the 800-meter run with a gold medal time of 2-35.33, and Hernandez placed fifth in the same event with a time of 2:59..15.

Pricilla Cortez won the silver medal in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.89. Kaitlynn Hart placed fourth in the same event with a 19.45, and Jimena Fuller finished sixth with a time of 22.01.

Zapata finished fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.58.

The 4×200-meter relay team of Parker, Vasquez, Soto, and Ambriz ran a silver medal time of 1:55.81.

Miller, Zapata, and Sarah Gloria took the gold, silver, and bronze medals respectively in the 400-meter dash. Miller ran a gold medal time of 1:04.99, Zapata took the silver with a 1:11.87, and Gloria won the bronze with a 1:13.81.

Hart ran a gold medal time of 58.74 in the 300-meter hurdles.

Elizarraraz took the bronze medal in the same event with a time of 59.65 and Fuller finished fifth with a 1:03.31.

Ambriz won the 200-meter dash with a gold medal time of 27.37.

Soto earned the bronze medal in the same event with a 27.96, and Marleigh Alvarado placed sixth with a 30.62.

Elizarraraz won the silver medal in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:35.27.

Hernandez earned the bronze medal in the same event with a time of 6:45.84, and Brianna Barraraz finished fourth with a 6:57.93.

Miller, Vasquez, Parker, and Villa teamed up for the 4×400-meter relay.

The team ran a gold medal time of 4:31.31 in the final race of the day.
