Muleshoe High School boys golf team placed 2nd overall in the recent district golf final, said Coach Steven Butler.

“They played solid golf to erase a 5-stroke deficit to Idalou for second to win by 11 over them and beat Slaton by 38 strokes,” he said.

Slaton was tied with Muleshoe for 3rd going in.

“Wyatt Parker played his best round by far and tied for low round with an 84 (44 front nine, 40 back nine), finishing 2nd overall in the medalist race,” Butler said.

Though the Muleshoe girls fought hard, they didn’t place as well as they’d hoped.

“Haili Gardner had a personal best and parred her first hole in tournament play. It was cool to see her excitement for it,” Butler said. “It’s exciting to watch how far these young athletes have come in this one season with all of them being involved in so many other things at the same time.”

The team will play at Regionals Monday and Tuesday, April 23 and 24.
