Mule tennis team competes in region tournament

Ten members of the Muleshoe High School tennis team traveled to Abilene to compete in the Region I Class 3A Tennis Tournament on the courts of Rose Park Tennis Center April 19 and 20.

“I was honored and blessed to these athletes to Abilene to represent the Muleshoe Mules,” said MHS tennis coach Jody Wood. “It was a great day to be a Mule!”

Jacob Kettner and Lili Barrera won their first match in Mixed Doubles against Clyde 6-1, 6-6 (4-7), 6-0 to advance to the second round. The MHS team lost their second match against the Number 1 seed Sonora 1-6; 2-6. Sonora won the Region I Class 3A Mixed Doubles Championship.

Izaiah Perez and Ricardo Torres were eliminated from Boys Doubles competition when they lost their first match to Crane 4-6, 3-6.
Sophia Sianez and Anghy Avilez fell in their first match to Brock 1-6, 1-6 in Girls Doubles.

Cassidy Cage, Luke Leal, Hallie Myatt and Israel Ramirez traveled with the team as alternates to the tournament.
