Lisa Whalin, Muleshoe ISD Business Manager, proposed a tax rate reduction at the Monday, May 14, Muleshoe ISD school board meeting. After a thorough review of budget items and discussing a possible tax rate reduction, the board strongly agreed with Whalin.

Muleshoe ISD will plan a tax rate reduction when they’re adopting the official 2018-19 budget.

“We appreciate the support of the community in the Tax Swap two years ago, and due to several state funding factors, we are now allowed to reduce our local tax rate,” Whalin said. “This is a way to give back to the community. We thank the community for their continued support.”

The reduction in tax rate should affect every landowner in the Muleshoe ISD school district. The school board praised Whalin for her diligence and budget-building skills.

“This is unheard of!” said Jay Cage, referring to a government entity reducing the tax rate in these times.

Muleshoe ISD Board of Trustees thanks the community for their support in helping all of our students in their academic success.
