Judy Coffman is the Director of Department of Aging in Bailey County. The Office of Aging offers many services to our local citizens. Muleshoe Meals on Wheels is fully funded locally by donations, memorials and fundraisers and is currently serving 89 clients daily. Volunteers deliver meals made fresh daily from Muleshoe Area Hospital Monday through Friday. Clients not only receive a nutritious meal but are greeted with a smile and a wellness check. This program is available for seniors residing in the city of Muleshoe 60 years of age or older at no cost to them, however, we do accept donations.
The Department of Aging is also home office to our local Salvation Army Unit, and we can assist once a year with prescriptions, utility disconnects, etc. We also provide services to veteran’s and can help apply for various programs. If you have need of any of our services or just have a question, please call Judy at 806-272-3647.
The Bailey County Senior Transportation van runs five days a week locally and on Tuesday and Thursdays to Lubbock. Once a month, on a Monday, the van will transport to Clovis, New Mexico and every three months to Plainview also on a Monday. Hours of operation are 8-5 Monday through Thursday and 8-1 on Friday. To qualify, seniors must live in Bailey County, be at least 60 years of age and able to get on and off the van on their own. The van driver, Hurchal Hardin, will pick you up and take you to the Senior Center, doctor’s appointments, grocery shopping, banking, get a haircut, visit friends, or any errand necessary. Services are provided by donation only. Call Hurchal at 806-566-5522 to schedule your ride.
