Bailey, Lamb county sheriffs honored at White House event

Among those honored at a White House event held Aug. 20 were Bailey County Sheriff Richard Wills and Lamb County Sheriff Gary Maddox.
The event was titled Salute to the Heroes of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and CBP (Customs and Border Protection).
Law enforcement officials from across the country attended the event, which included a tour of Washington, D.C., and a panel discussion featuring top ICE and CBP officials.

New physician joins staff of Muleshoe Area Medical Center

Muleshoe — Kenneth Burk, DO, is on a mission to provide great family care to the residents of Muleshoe and surrounding communities.
“I’ve always wanted to be a physician in a smaller community where I could care for patients of all ages, and in all settings,” said Dr. Burk, “and am happy to call Muleshoe and Muleshoe Area Medical Center my new home.”

Judge requested to sign meal program grant authorization

Bailey County Commissioners Court met in regular session on Monday, Aug. 27. Present were County Judge Sherri Harrison; Commissioner Gary Don Gartin, Precinct 1; Commissioner Mike Slayden, Precinct 2; Commissioner Cody Black, Precinct 3; Commissioner Juan Chavez, Precinct 4; and County Clerk Robin Dickerson, ex-officio clerk of Commissioner’s Court.
All motions carried unanimously.

Cynthia Dianne Burton, 60, of Levelland passed from this life on August 24, 2018 in Lubbock. A visitation will be held at Krestridge Funeral Home on Monday, August 27, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A second visitation will be held at Ellis Funeral Home, 104 East Ave F Muleshoe, TX 79347 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 28, 2018. Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Muleshoe. Interment will follow at Muleshoe Memorial Cemetery.
