Zeta Rho chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met in the home of Donna Glover on Tuesday, August 14 for their first monthly meeting of the new year. Pat Angeley served as co-hostess. Members Sandi Chitwood, Cindy Purdy, Vicki Black, Pat Young, and Sheila Stevenson brought a variety of salads, crackers and chips to go with tea and desserts provided by the hostesses.
After the meal, President Donna Glover led members in the opening ritual and welcomed guest Martha Hunnicutt to the meeting. Vicki Black called roll and read the minutes. New business was discussed, Pat Young gave the treasurer’s report, programs and committee assignments were announced, and the meeting was adjourned. President Glover led the group in the closing ritual and the mizpah. The door prize, a decorated pumpkin, was won by Sharon Glover.
Members then enjoyed an informal mixer exchange where each member was invited to share something new and perhaps heretofore unknown about themselves with the other members. Members heard funny, inspirational, and surprising stories about meeting famous football players, visiting with, having boots autographed by, and being kissed by famous singers, riding in the Vomit Comet at NASA, assisting in the miracle of a heart transplant, zip-lining in the mountains, receiving business recognition, having a summer job as a living billboard, being probably the only sorority member actually born in Muleshoe, car racing as a teenager, and china berry trees serving as a child’s playground.
