Jesse Ray (J.R.) Carter

Jesse Ray (J.R.) Carter was born to William and Myrtle Carter in a dugout on a dryland farm in Bailey County, Texas. J.R. farmed in Bailey County until 1990. Looking for more rain and less sand, he and his loving wife Maxine moved to Caldwell, Kansas to continue farming.
J.R. served on the board of directors for the Muleshoe Area Hospital District and also served on the Blackwater Agricultural Association board. After moving to Kansas, J.R. served on the Sumner County hospital board of directors.
J.R. was preceded in death by this wife Maxine and daughter Paula. He is survived by daughter, Peggy Buhrman of Clearwater, Kansas, son, David Carter of Amarillo, Texas, 4 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
