Walter Ray Robertson

Walter Ray Robertson 88 passed away on November 9, 2018 in Plainview Texas. A memorial service was held at 11 am on November 13, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Dimmitt. TX. Ray was born near Plainview TX in the Bellview Community on May 26,1930 to GW and May Robertson. He was married to Joanis Daniels for 53 years before her death in 2003.
Ray was a resident of Dimmitt for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Ray has been a lifetime farmer/rancher in and around Castro County. He was a Masonic and Shriner for over 50 years. He was honored by receiving the Dimmitt “Citizen through the Years” in 1979 for his many years of civic service. For many years he was a director for the Castro Co-op Gin. He was a director for Production Credit for nine years and on the Texas Farm Credit Board for many years. The greatest joy in his life was his family which included 14 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
Ray is preceded in death by his wife, Joanis, his parents and brothers, Jack and Fred Robertson of Plainview, TX.
Ray is survived by three daughters, Carla Huffman of Oxford, KS, Sandra Blair (Rocky) of Shallowater, Nancy Benham (Jack) of Muleshoe, and two sons, Terry Robertson (Guylene Rogers) of Goodrich, TX and Jeff Robertson (Karen Boykin) of Canyon, TX. Ray requested in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Shriners Childrens Hospital.
