TxDOT representative, commissioners discuss road repairs at railroad crossings

Bailey County Commissioners Court met in regular session at the Courthouse on Tuesday, Nov. 13. Present were County Judge Sherri Harrison, Precinct 1 Commissioner Gary Don Gartin, Precinct 2 Commissioner Mike Slayden, Precinct 3 Commissioner Cody Black, Precinct 4 Commissioner Juan Chavez and County Clerk Robin Dickerson, ex-officio clerk of Commissioners Court.
Chavez moved and Gartin seconded a motion to approve the minutes from the Oct. 22 and Oct. 30 meetings. Motion carried unanimously.
Black moved and Slayden seconded a motion to approve and order payment of county bills. Gartin abstained from West Texas Gas bills. Motion carried.
Slayden moved and Gartin seconded a motion to approve Treasurer’s Reports for September 2018. Motion carried unanimously.
Gartin moved and Chavez seconded a motion to approve In-County Travel forms. Motion carried unanimously.
Departmental reports were reviewed.
Black moved and Slayden seconded a motion to approve soil conservation worksheets in accordance with §201.151 of the Agriculture Code.

Motion carried unanimously.
Gartin moved and Chavez seconded a motion to approve the canvass votes from the November 2018 election. Motion carried unanimously.
Slayden moved and Gartin seconded a motion to authorize the county judge to sign letter requesting $17,204 in the materials to repair and maintain county roads and request any additional state surplus materials that are reallocated. Motion carried unanimously.
Adrian Mendoza with TxDOT discussed with the court assisting the railroad with repairing the road between the railroad crossing located at Highway 84 and Highway 70. Plans are to begin after Thanksgiving, weather permitting. Other scheduled repairs are: FY-19 mill and inlay repair from West Highway 214 to Parmer County line, sealcoat Highway 84 to Bailey County Line in the summer, July-August 2019, and in-house file FM 37 Bailey County to FM 37 Lamb County line.
Commissioners tabled consideration of adopting new rate contract for the Coliseum rentals.
Black moved and Gartin seconded a motion to approve a resolution regarding incarcerated inmates in Bailey County at Medicaid rates. Motion carried unanimously.
