The Muleshoe High School Junior Varsity Boys basketball team lost to the Tulia Hornets in a home court matchup last week.
After winning the tipoff, Jimmy Villa hit the team’s first two points of the game followed by a basket by the Hornets. Villa and Cristian Bustillos proved to be a tough combo for the Hornets splitting the Mules’ 14 points of the quarter. The Hornets scored 7 points.
The Mules stayed on top in the second quarter with Villa adding six more points to the scoreboard. Joe Gutierrez stepped in creating good ball movement bringing the score to 22-11 before the Hornets went on an eight-point shooting spree closing in on the Mules’ lead. Bad decisions slowed the score resulting in the Mules leading 24-19 at halftime.
The Mules’ score climbing slowly in the second half with the team scoring only three points in the third and four points in the fourth quarters. The Mules went to the free throw line with 14 shots and only made three while the Hornets racked up 23 points to finish the game.
