MULESHOE — US 70 (N. 1st Street) in Muleshoe is scheduled to be closed to traffic beginning Friday, February 22, to allow the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Company to safely perform routine maintenance work on the railroad crossing located between US 84 (E. American Boulevard) and E. Ash Avenue.
Traffic will be detoured around the area using US 84 and Dallas, Ithaca and Birch streets.
Northbound US 70 traffic will be detoured around the area using US 84 to either W. Dallas Street or E. Ithaca Street and onto either W. or E. Birch avenues.
Southbound US 70 traffic wanting to connect with southbound US 84 will be detoured to E. Birch Avenue then to E. Ithaca; to connect with northbound US 84, southbound 70 traffic will be detoured at W. Birch Avenue to W. Dallas Street.
Work on the project is expected to wrap-up and the roadway reopened to traffic on Friday, March 1; weather permitting.
