Former Muleshoe Journal Editor Larry Thornton was honored Friday by the Panhandle Press Association.
Thornton, who died Nov. 14, was inducted into the Panhandle Press Association Hall of Fame at the 109th Annual Convention Hall of Fame Banquet.
His wife, Dianne Thornton, and kids, Jessica and Sean Thornton, were present to receive the plaque in his honor.
Thornton led the Muleshoe Journal as editor from 2005-16.
Under his leadership, the publication won multiple state and regional contest awards. The Kansas-native was an active member of the Panhandle Press Association and served as president in 2016-17.
