It’s taken me a whole lifetime to come to the conclusion and admit that I am a senior citizen. The adventures and discipline of youth; the struggles and successes of middle age; the pain and pleasures of maturity; and the loneliness and tranquility of aging all make up the fire through which I passed to get me here today. I’ve always been one to live sanely hour after hour and day after day. Oh, I’ve had my moments. But if I had to do it all over again, I would have more of them — a whole lot more of them!
It has often been said that just as you can’t unfry an egg—you can’t relive your life. But, isn’t it worth thinking about? If I could live my life over, I would pay way more attention to the occasional rainbow and the daily sunsets. I would gather more daisies, plant more roses, and climb more trees. I would seek out friends who inspire relaxation and fun. I would go to more dances, plan more parties and keep later hours. If I had my life to live over I would start going barefoot a little earlier in the spring and stay that way a little longer in the fall. I would pet more dogs, hold more cats and ride more horses. I would catch more fish, nap in more hammocks and swim in more lakes. And yes, if I had my live to live over I would reverse my diet — eat more chicken fried with gravy and less bran and probiotics.
No, we can’t live our life over but we can live it differently. At the Senior Center we plan activities to help us do just that.
With spring now here we encourage you to get our more and stop in at our center. We would be happy to show you around. We’d even be happier to get you involved at our facility. Think about it. But, don’t think too long. Act know and have some fun moments in that life you’re living now!
