The Muleshoe ISD Board of Trustees met in special session on Monday, June 3. Present were Superintendent Dr. R.L. Richards,  Curtis Preston, Sergio Leal, Jay Cage, Curt Miller, Ashley Turnbow and Jesus Tovar.
The proposed tax is $1.17. However, after Governor Greg Abbott signs HB 3 on June 11, the Maintenance and Operation Tax Rate will be reset to $1.06 or $1.07 depending on legislation.
The Board approved the turf bid to Field Turf, which will replace the stadium turf after the 2019 football season.
Resignations from Amanda Mueller, Blair Morris, Courtney Ware and Tianna Virdell were accepted.
Cassandra Hensley, Fred Tucker, Rebecca Tucker, Nicole Kimball, Rachel Chaparro and Ruth Reardon Burk were hired.
Kelly Kettner, at-large school board member, resigned. Kettner had served as a member of the board since 2010, for approximately nine years. He served as the board secretary and was influential in many of the successes of Muleshoe Schools. Kettner helped provide strong oversight of the budget and provided direction for Muleshoe Schools.
The board is taking input on possible board members to be appointed to Kettner’s position. If you are interested, please contact a board member.
Ashley Turnbow was elected as Muleshoe ISD Board of Trustees secretary.
