The Muleshoe Chamber of Commerce named Andrea Alfaro as Chamber manager on Tuesday, Dec. 3. She began working on Thursday, Dec. 5, just in time for one of the Chamber’s busiest seasons.
The Christmas Tree Lighting took place on Thursday, Dec. 12.
“It was awesome,” Alfaro said. “We had a good turnout, there was hot cocoa, and Muleshoe High School Choir came out and sang carols for us.”
Two days later, on Saturday, Dec. 14, the annual Christmas Parade marched or rolled down Main Street.
“It went really well,” Alfaro said. “We had a good turnout, and the weather was good, calm and not really cold.”
Although there was no registration for the parade, Alfaro estimates15 floats showed up. Businesses and groups represented included CenterPointe Church, Lopez Cattle Ranch, Higginbotham Bartlett, Parkview Nursing Care Center, Tow Pros and Muleshoe Youth Soccer.
“There were horses, two semi-trucks and first responders, as well as some cars,” she said.
Since there was no registration, no prizes were awarded. Alfaro said they expect to have registration and award prizes in 2020.
A Muleshoe native, Alfaro previously stayed at home to give her little boys a good start. Event planning is one of her strong interests.
“I like to stay up with what’s going on, to be in the loop,” she said. “Events like the Christmas tree lighting and the parade are all part of community togetherness.”
The Muleshoe Chamber of Commerce currently has 77 members.
“As soon as more businesses arrive, we plan on growing,” Alfaro said. “Being a Chamber member increases promotion of your business. You can get your name out there and network through social events. The Chamber of Commerce encourages shopping local, staying in Muleshoe area.”
The annual Muleshoe Chamber Breakfast will take place in January. Other 2020 events include the Chamber banquet in May, the July Fourth parade and celebration, and Mules Days and Kickin’ Nights later in the summer..
