The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team fell to Sands on Monday, Dec. 30th, 40-29. The teams were deadlocked at, 12-12, after one quarter, but Sands outscored the Nettes, 7-2, in the second quarter, to take a, 19-14, lead into the locker room at halftime. Sudan bounced back and outscored Sands, 13-12, in the third quarter to make the score, 31-27, heading into the final quarter of play. In the fourth quarter, Sands ran away with it, outscoring Sudan, 9-2, to take the contest, 40-29. Freshman, Stevi Lockhart, led the Nettes in scoring with 11 points to go along with two assists, one rebound and one block, while freshman, Braelyn Pointer, added six points, three rebounds and two assists. Sophomore, Liz Sital, led the team in rebounds with nine, while adding five points and one steal. Senior, Payton Tolbert, chipped in seven rebounds four points and one steal, while freshman, Gracyn Shultz, contributed three points, three rebounds and two assists. The Nettes hosted the New Home Lady Leopards on Friday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Tuesday with a home game against Hale Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
