If you’ve ever wondered if our Senior Center was filling a real need in our community, you only have to look at the number of meals we served this past week. As most of you know, we provide a nutritious meal every week day– Monday through Friday. A total of five meals per week. And as most of you know, because of the coronavirus pandemic, we have closed our doors and all activities except the daily meals. We now, however, provide these meals as drive thru’ s or home deliveries. This past week, we served a total of 492 meals. That’s an average of 98 per day.
So, as you can see, there is most definitely a real need for this service for our seniors. We are so thrilled that we were able to continue the meals and didn’t just close the door and leave our seniors to fend for themselves. Many of our seniors are very active. But there are many who are not and it is this population that we worry about the most. Our home delivery service for these individuals has provided them with a hot, healthy meal every day.
We want to thank our staff, board members and volunteers who have been so helpful in providing this service. We are a non-profit organization and we also want to thank all of you who have donated financially to our Center. Your generosity is so appreciated.
We hope we will be able to continue this service until we can reopen our Center. We know many of you are anxious to get back to our exercise programs, our daily dominoes, “42” and “80” activities, our loteria and bingo, our arts and crafts projects, and our support group meetings.
Until then—stay home, stay safe and pray for normalcy to return real soon to our community and our entire nation!asked how I’m doing? I put a big smile on my face and answer, “No worries!”
We hope to see you all at the drive-thru this week. Be safe and God Bless!
