Six families in the South Plains region will receive free groceries courtesy of a joint venture between United Supermarkets and Covenant Health.
One person per week for six straight weeks will receive a $500 United Supermarkets gif card. The cards will be given to those who have “kept spirits high, not only with themselves but those around them; someone how has worked bravely, diligently, and compassionately, and someone who has put health and safety of our community first,” according to the news release.
The gift cards can go to Covenant Health caregivers as well as educators, grocery store workers and community and religious leaders among others.
“While COVID-19 has upended life as we knew it, it has also given us a lens to see people doing remarkable things to help their community and their neighbors. From healthcare workers to teachers and our own grocery store team members, there are many examples of people putting their own needs aside in order to help,” said Sidney Hopper, president of The
United Family. “United Supermarkets is proud to help shine a light on a few of these fine folks.”
