The Sudan Hornets’ varsity football team suffered their second consecutive loss of the season on Friday night, as they fell to the Farwell Steers, 32-7.
With the loss, the Hornets fall to 1-2 overall on the season.
Farwell scored on a 50-yard touchdown run for the only score of the first quarter, taking a, 6-0, lead on the Hornets.
The Steers added to their lead with a 29-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, taking a, 13-0, lead into the locker room at halftime.
Farwell pushed their lead to 32-0, heading into the fourth quarter, with three third-quarter touchdowns.
Senior quarterback, Bode Box, got the Hornets on the board in the fourth quarter with a one-yard touchdown run, as Sudan fell to the Steers in their home-opener, 32-7.
The Hornets were held to 270 yards of offense on the night; 189 yards rushing and 81 yards passing.
Box finished the game four-of-11 passing for 81 yards and one interception. He also added 17 carries for 13 yards and one touchdown. Senior, Callen Cannon, led the rushing attack with 12 carries for 97 yards, while senior, Rustin Penrod, chipped in 12 carries for 44 yards and senior, Lane Wilson, added four carries for 25 yards.
Wilson led the receiving game for the Hornets with two catches for 65 yards, while Jordie Bellar had one catch for nine yards and Garison Bohler had one catch for seven yards.
Defensively, Salvador Juarez recorded an interception, while Michael Limon and Gabriel Cisneros each recovered a fumble.
