Covenant Health will host a free colonoscopy clinic in August and the screening deadline is next month.

The seventh annual Free Colonoscopy Clinic is set for Aug. 21 at the Covenant Endoscopy Center, 3610 21st Street in Lubbock.

To take part in the colonoscopy clinic, potential patients must be at least 45 years old or have a family history of colon cancer; they must never have received a colonoscopy; and they must qualify for financial assistance.

The deadline to be screened for these qualifications is July 21. It’s noted that space is limited.

Those interested must call (806)725-0518 or (806)725-4442 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Colonoscopy exams are recommended for those 45 years old and older and for those who have a family history of colon cancer, according to a news release from Covenant Health.

Colon cancer can be prevented if detected early, according to the news release.
