The Muleshoe Area Medical Center announced the hiring of two new members in Ashley Byler and Shawn Gasaway to the medical staff on Monday.

Byer is the new Family Nurse Practitioner at the Medical Clinic of Muleshoe. Gasaway was hired to staff the Emergency Department of that Muleshoe Area Medical Center.

Byer recently graduated from the nurse practitioner program at the University of Colorado. She became interested in medicine while caring for her grandmother, entering the health care field as a nurse in the El Paso and Las Cruces area.

“I have met some of the nicest and most generous people in Muleshoe,” Byer said in the news release announcing the hirings.

Appointments with Byer can be made by calling 806-272-7544.

Gasway comes to Muleshoe from the Central Arkansas area. He began his medical career as an 18-year-old medic with the Army. Following his military work, he spent the next 15 years as a first responder. Gasaway has been a registered nurse and a family nurse practitioner.

“Emergency medicine is especially rewarding because I get to use all the training I have received over the years,” Gasaway said in the release.

“We are very happy to have Ashley and Shawn join us at Muleshoe Area Medical Center,” says Dennis Fleenor, Administrator at MAMC.  He continues, “These two will be a great addition to our staff and serve the Muleshoe Area very well.”
