After a 2020 delay caused by Covid-19, the day for the Muleshoe Ex-Students All-School Reunion finally arrived and Muleshoe alumni began Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021 with a breakfast at the Oneita Wagnon Senior Center. There was much visiting and renewing of friendships around the breakfast tables. New friendships were also made as members of different classes met and got to know each other. During the morning, there was time for attendees to browse the books about Muleshoe that Wayne Bristow and Alice Liles have written and had for sale.

Afternoon events included a tour of the high school, led by Assistant Superintendent Dani Heathington, so that everyone could see how the building has changed since their years in school. It was interesting for those on the tour to find parts of the building remaining from their years of walking those halls. Everyone commented on how nice the renovations and additions look, but there was also a little nostalgia for the way it was “in our day.” Another afternoon opportunity was a tour at the Muleshoe Heritage Center with special attention for the Yellowjacket Inn, which holds a place in the memories for many who visited it during their days in high school and elementary school. Other buildings at the center were appreciated for their historical importance to our area.

The reunion continued that evening at the Bailey County Coliseum where attendees were able to enjoy a meal catered by Jeanna’s Feedbag. There was ample time for everyone to visit and reminisce about school days. Before the meal began, all those who had served in the military were recognized and shown appreciation for their service. Dudley Bristow, a member of the class of 1959 offered a blessing for the meal and the evening.

Classes represented spanned 41 years…from 1947 to 1988. Ernest Ramm, a 1947 graduate, and his wife, Mary Alice, along with David Wyer, a 1948 graduate, and Dorothy Waggoner Wyer, a 1949, graduate, were from the earliest decade with alumni attending. Dalyn Bratcher and Alex Bachicha were both in the class of 1988, which was the latest class represented.

The next All-School Reunion is scheduled for Saturday, July 5, 2025. The Muleshoe Ex-Students Association will invite those interested in helping with the planning to meet in January 2025. An announcement of date and time will be made closer to that time. Ex-students who worked on the 2021 reunion were: Larry Seales, president; Dani (Dunham) Heathington, vice-president; Della (Ross) Brown and Gayle (Seagroves) Richerson; co-treasurers; Virginia Bowers and Vickie (Street) Burch, co-secretaries; Kenneth and Darlene (Black) Henry; Chuck Smith; Mike Jones; Helen (Mitchell) Cook; Rosa (Guillen) Davis; Nelda (Redwine) Hunt; Billie (Redwine) Downing; Dagmar Poteet; Ricky Richerson; and Johnny and Deborah (Wagnon) St. Clair.
