The Springlake-Earth Wolverines’ varsity football team held off the Nazareth Swifts on the road on Friday, 54-50, as the inch closer to repeating as District Champions.

With the win, the Wolverines improve to 7-1 overall, 3-0 in district play.

Springlake-Earth totaled 400 yards of total offense, including 213 passing yards and 187 rushing yards.

DeLeon finished the game three-of-four passing for 127 yards and two touchdowns, while Ethridge finished four-of-six passing for 86 yards and one touchdown.

In the rushing game, Ethridge led the way with nine carries for 118 yards and two touchdowns, while Holmes joined him with 10 carries for 70 yards and two touchdowns.

In the receiving attack, Rosalez tallied two catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns, while Goodman added two catches for 66 yards and one touchdown. Tim Tanaro added one catch for 18 yards, while Holmes contributed one catch for 14 yards.

Defensively, DeLeon had an interception to go along with 13 total tackles, while Holmes and Roel Fuentes each tallied 15 total tackles and Goomdman, contributed 13 total tackles, including two for loss. Davey Crandall also had 10 tackles in the contest.

The Wolverines will look to close out the regular season on Friday with a win over Kress for the out-right district title.

Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. at Wolverine Stadium.
