South Plains Rehabilitation Hospital announced Ron Loweke was named CEO of South Plains Rehabilitation Hospital.

The announcement was made via news release this week but Loweke has been in the role since Oct. 4.

The hospital is an affiliate of UMC and Encompass Health. Loweke will oversee its day-to-day operations of the 66-bed inpatient rehab facility, which is located at 5406 Colgate St. in Lubbock.

Loweke joined Encompass Health in 2017 as director of quality and risk management at Encompass Health of Desert Canyon, according to the news release. Most recently, he was associated administrator at The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis since July 2020.

Before joining Encompass Health, he was a hospital services administrator at DaVita Kidney Group and director of patient experience at Universal Health Services, part of the Northwest Texas Healthcare System, according to the news release.

Loweke earned his bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration and policy and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Nevada in Las Vegas.

“Ron brings more than seven years of healthcare leadership experience to his new role, including four years in Encompass Health hospitals, and I am confident he will make impactful contributions to South Plains Rehabilitation Hospital,” said Frank Brown, president of Encompass Health’s southwest region.
