Our Bailey County Senior Center hosted their first ever Annual Pool Tournament this past December. We had a total of 23 individuals and 8 teams sign up to compete. There were numerous onlookers to cheer on their favorite players. Good times were had by all. The games started after 1 p.m. and lasted till almost 8 that night. All attendees were able to watch the Christmas Light Parade inside through the windows at the front of our building.
We set up a concession stand with nachos, Frito pies, candy bars, and drinks. It was a long day but a very successful one. It was our first one ever and we have learned from it. Trophies were given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams and to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place individuals.
Pool Tournament winners were as followed:
1st Place Team – Hector and Angela Reyes
2nd Place Team – Jessie Romero and Mary Romero
3rd Place Team – Mary Velasquez and Juan
1st Place Individual – Jesse Montiel
2nd Place Individual – Cynthia Plata
3rd Place Individual – Jessie Romero
We also had our drawing for our $500 Visa gift card that day. Raffle tickets were being bought till the last minute. Kevin Harris was the lucky winner of the gift card. He told us that he had never won anything before. We hope that helped him have a wonderful Christmas.
Bailey County Senior Center is a non-profit organization. Our fundraisers help us to continue serving our area seniors. We are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Lunch for anyone 60 and over is a voluntary donation of $3. Lunch price for under 60 is $8. We can’t thank the participants, our volunteers, our members, our staff and board members, and our community enough for the outpour of support. We pray this new year will be beyond blessed for everyone.
