The Muleshoe Art Association met Tuesday, January 4th, at the Santa Fe Depot in the Muleshoe Heritage Center. The meeting began with the program, a demonstration by Adryan Diaz, guest artist from Amarillo. Adryan, who works mostly in pencil, charcoal, and sometimes water color pencils, shared the sketch book he keeps of quality drawings of family and friends. He also shared large pictures of Patrick Mahomes and Chris Beard that were impressive. For his demonstration, Adryan did three drawings of an eye, one done in ten seconds, one done in one minute, and one done in ten minutes. To do these he used graphite pencils in different sizes, a gum eraser, and an electric eraser, and a brush to clean with.

President Ann Johnson suggested taking a break for refreshments and afterward called the meeting to order. Sandra Chancey read the minutes, which were approved and then gave the treasurer’s report, which was accepted with a show of hands.

Ann then relayed thanks from the Heritage Center board president Kenneth Henry for the association’s help in decorating the depot and then furnishing cookies and help at the Heritage Center after the Christmas parade.

Ann then asked Sandra Chancey, chairman for the Spring Show, to give details about the show. The show will be held at the Senior Center. A meeting will be held with the center’s board on January 10th to set a date and discuss other details, including the times and areas within the center to be used. Members then signed up on the worksheet being passed around for duties to be covered. Members discussed other details pertaining to the case.

Ann then reminded everyone to be working on the valentines that the association does for residents of the nursing home and shut-ins. Blank cards were available for members to use for the valentines if needed.

The meeting was then adjourned.

The next meeting will be February 1st at the Santa Fe Depot.

Members present for the meeting were Ann Johnson, Shirley White, Debbie Black, Misti Prater, Mike Jones, Melba Bratcher, Sandi Chitwood, Jo Ella Flowers, Dianne Brown, Kay Hohes, Connie Navajar, Sandra Chancey, and guest Phil Gaasch.
