Drug ring bust results in multiple arrests in Muleshoe, Lubbock
Ellysa Harris January 25, 2022 0 COMMENTSAn investigation into a regional drug trafficking ring recently culminated in the arrest of five individuals from both Muleshoe and Lubbock.
Earlier this month, a Grand Jury of the Northern District of Texas indicted Jaden Herrera, Alfredo Tovar and Alberto Marquez, all of Muleshoe, and Willesha Cooks and Shamare Foster, both of Lubbock, for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute.
The arrests and indictments stem from a traffic stop in which one of the individuals involved was found to be in possession of 1 gram of methamphetamine. That led to the investigation of a methamphetamine trafficking organization run by Foster, also known as “Frosty.” The investigation began in July 2021.
The investigation led to 14 arrests for drug trafficking offenses, the seizure of 14 firearms, three kilograms of cocaine, 136 grams of methamphetamine, 28 kilograms of marijuana, 524 grams of synthetic marijuana, two vehicles and $24,326.
Two more individuals out of Clovis, New Mexico, have been busted as a result of these investigations including David Romero and Justin Villegas. Investigators connected their criminal activities with Foster.
The investigation is led by Homeland Security Investigations Lubbock office with assistance from Muleshoe PD and Lubbock Caprock HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) Task Force.
While the arrests have so far been regional, law enforcement officials suspect they have a much farther reach beyond the immediate area.
