The upcoming Bailey County Republican Primary election includes two contested races – one for commissioner of precinct 4 and one for county judge.

The Muleshoe Journal reached out to all candidates in these races last week with a list of questions to be completed and turned back in to the Journal. The following responses are in the candidates’ own words. They have not been edited except for minor spelling corrections.

Three of the candidates completed their own questionnaires via email. Only one – candidate Jim Daniel – completed his verbally. His responses were recorded verbatim.

These are the questions asked of candidates for Bailey County Judge:

  • Tell me about you. Where are you from? How long have you lived in Bailey County? Are you married, have kids, etc.?
  • Any community involvement? If so, can you elaborate?
  • What made you run for County Judge?
  • What is the most important thing the county is facing right now?
  • If elected, what would you like to tackle first?
  • Is there anything you believe is going particularly well for Bailey County? Can you elaborate?
  • If you could pick just one or two things, what do you most want voters to know or understand about you?
  • Are there any points not in this questionnaire that you want to speak to? If so, please share it here.
