The Muleshoe Art Association met May 3, at the Santa Fe Depot for their May meeting. Members enjoyed pizza, salad brought by Kay Hohs, and banana pudding brought by Ann Johnson.

After the meal, the door prize brought by Shirley White was drawn for and won by Ruth Hall.

President Johnson then opened the meeting by asking Secretary Alice Liles to call roll and read the minutes from the March meeting. Treasurer Misti Prater gave the treasurer’s report. Mike Jones made the motion to accept the minutes and the treasurer’s report, Sandi Chitwood seconded, and the motion carried.

Under new and old business, discussion followed on the success of the spring art show. Sandra Chancey was recognized and thanked for her hard word pulling the show together, and she thanked members for their help in making things run smoothly. The Senior Center board of directors was also thanked for allowing the show to be held in the senior center this year. Discussion also followed concerning the association continuing to support the Heritage Foundation in their projects.

It was reported that Muleshoe members Misti Prater and Sandi Chitwood entered pieces in the Brownfield art show with Misti winning Best of Show and Sandi receiving three Honorable Mentions.

A motion to accept the old and new business was made by Dianne Brown, seconded by Kay Hohs, and the motion carried.

Sandi Chitwood reminded members who would be displaying their artwork at the senior center and the library in the coming months.

Melba Bratcher discussed refreshments to be provided at the first meeting in the fall to be held at the home of Alice Liles.

President Johnson commended Kay and Shirley for the work scheduling programs for the meetings.

Election of officers followed and Nelda Hunt moved to retain the existing officers by acclimation. Sandra Chancey seconded, and the motion passed. President will be Ann Johnson, vice-president Kay Hohs, secretary Alice Liles, treasurer Misti Prater.

Dianne Brown made the motion to adjourn the meeting, Melba Bratcher seconded, and the motion passed.

The next meeting will be the opening meeting for the new year on Sept. 6 at 2 p.m. at the home of Alice Liles. Visitors and prospective members are invited to attend.
