Young and old turned out for Muleshoe’s annual Fourth of July Celebration on Saturday, July 2. This year’s theme was Land of the Free, Home of the Mule.

“It went really well,” said Muleshoe Chamber Manager Brittany Pendley. “We had 37 vendors, and many of them were packed all the time.”

In addition to the Li’l Mr. and Miss Firecracker Pageant, the Cornhole Tournament and the Car Show, a Frog and Turtle Race was added for children this year.

“A lot of kids participated,” Pendley said. “It was a fun thing and all of the kids got a little gift bag. That’s something we’ll do again next year.”

Five Area earned the Grand Prize in the float competition, and Lee Tosh was the car show winner. The team competing as Dad and Son were first in the Cornhole Tournament. Second place went to Dallas and Elisia; and Carlos and Eric took third..

Li’l Mr. and Miss Firecracker winners were: Messiah Regalado and Skylar Brown, Under 1; Antonio Aviles and Kaylanie Buenrostro, 1-3; and Jacob Contreras and Wrenli Whatley 4-6.

“The fireworks show beautiful,” Pendley said. “It was a great ending to the day.”
