The Muleshoe Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture presented a check to The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Monday.

The Chamber collected $480 from a cornhole tournament hosted during Muleshoe’s Independence Day celebration earlier this month.

Sixteen teams participated in the fundraising tournament hosted to help the church renovate.

Immaculate Conception Catholic Church experienced a fire in December that was discovered during a Sunday morning church service.

The fire was contained in the loft area of the church. It caused heavy smoke damage through the church including to its sanctuary, according to a Journal archive stories.

Rebuilding has been a community effort. In the days following the fire, community members helped clean up and worked to get the church to a position where the rest of the building could be opened back up to its congregants.
