A Clovis man is now behind bars following the murder of a teen at an apartment complex.
On Wednesday, the Clovis Police Department issued information regarding a callout to 1000 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Clovis where a reporting party informed PD of a man having been shot in the head. Responding officers found a woman. She was later identified as 17-year-old Shammeal Kirven.
Kirven was on the floor inside the entryway of an apartment building with an apparent gunshot wound. EMS transported the young woman to Plains Regional Medical Center where she later died.
The incident was reported at 12:38 a.m. Aug. 3.
Through the course of the investigation, 19-year-old Zyon Williams was identified as the suspected shooter.
Hours later around 2:30 p.m., the teen went to the Clovis PD and gave a detailed account of the shooting. He was then arrested for an active warrant for charges of abuse of a child resulting in death and tampering with evidence.
The investigation was conducted by the Clovis PD Special Operations Unit, the Clovis Police Patrol Division and the 9th Judicial Major Crimes Unit.
