Basil Nash was officially sworn in last week as the new acting county judge for Bailey County.

Nash took his oath from Judge Mike DeLoach of Lamb County on Oct. 25.

Nash was elected as the next county judge back in March beating out incumbent Sherri Harrison. He was originally set to take office on Jan. 1, 2023.

Nash moved to Muleshoe in 1983 following his service in the United States Marine Corp. He has been employed with Wayne Copley Trucking since about the time he arrived.

He is married to Tonya.

Back in February, Nash expressed his desires to have a local government that works for and with the people.

Nash was sworn in following the removal of Harrison from office in mid-October. Her term was set to expire at the end of December.
