Muleshoe Area Public Library recently announced the winners of their Summer Reading Program. Prizes were offered for attendance/participation and number of books read.

“We had a crazy amount of kids participate this year, and we’re grateful for it,” said library assistant Stefani Cisneros.

Winning for participation/attendance were Chazmire Gamblin (Oldest), Patrick Solalinde (Middle) and Heriberto Mendoza (Itty Bittys). Each reader was awarded a boxed set of mini-books.

Winning for total number of books read were Emmryk Ray, 2-kinder, 173 books; Kalila Landers, 1st-2nd grade, 400 books; and Elle Ray, 3rd-5th grade, 173 books.

“Kalila broke her last year’s record of 390,” Cisneros said. “She just keeps pushing it.”

The summer reading winners were awarded Kindles with accessory packs.

Trinity Hernandez took 1st place and Maci Sharp 2nd place in the Teen Readers Division. Each won a Polaroid camera.

“The kids love them,” Cisneros said.
