The District 2 2019 TEEA Spring Conference was held March 21 in Muleshoe. This year’s theme was “Denim Days with TEEA”.
The Hale EE Association received a Certificate of Appreciation for contributing to the TEEA/TEAFCS “Potholder Project Partnership” and their support of the 2018 National NEAFCS Annual Session.
The Cultural Arts Contest was another highlight of the district meeting. Four Hale County EE members competed in the contest. The four members each received a 1st Place and those items are now eligible to compete in the state contest in September in San Marcos. Results were: Craft Painting — Laurie VanHoose, Handstitchery — Kay Taylor, Photography-Photo Paper-black and white – Kay Taylor and Miscellaneous – Carol Williamson. For dessert we were served decadent Key Lime Pie and Brownies. Treena Matthews, Pat, Jana, and Tammy Black decorated the dining won with the St. Patrick Theme of green Leprechaun Hats and lucky Four Leaf Clovers. Hostesses for April will be Treena and Pat.

The Food Pantry

Alice’s note: This story first appeared in my blog The Bright Lights of Muleshoe on March 22.

I have shared with you the story of  Kay Graves and her contributions to the people of Muleshoe (Kay Graves and a Little Piece of Heaven, February 27, 2019). Probably the most lasting and far-reaching service she set in motion, however, was the food pantry.
