Competing against Dimmitt, Friona and Littlefield, Muleshoe Junior High UIL contestants took first in 8 out of 18 competitions in the Junior Academic Contest held in Muleshoe Final totals were: Muleshoe, 1,174.5; Littlefield, 1,065.7; Dimmitt, 632.7; and Friona, 564.2. The Muleshoe Mules advanced to the 2nd Round of the District Playoffs by defeating the Crane Golden Cranes in the first round. “We are proud of the Mules’ character at the 1st Round of playoffs in Denver City last Friday,” said Superintendent Dr. R.L. Richards. “The Mules defeated Crane and will now advance.”

Church service for Lauranette Mason, age 95, of Lubbock, Texas, is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Monday, November 20, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Muleshoe with Dr. Stacy Conner of Muleshoe officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park. Lauranette was born to George and Eula Pearl Hawkins on March 12, 1922 in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
