Carla Veronica Almanza, 28, and her baby, Lia Almanza Balderas passed away December 1, 2017 in Plainview, Texas. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Muleshoe, Texas with Father Rene Perez officiating.

Watson Junior High School, Muleshoe ISD, has been named the UIL District Academic Champion for the 2017-18 school year. The WJHS Academic Team compiled 1175 points for the championship. Ninety-seven students from Watson Jr. High participated at the UIL District 2-3A, Zone 1 Academic Contest held on Nov. 15.
